Call Anne…she understands the birds
we share our planet with..
…and imagine, it all began with a Heuglin’s Gull!
Anne has been involved in East Cape birding for
more than 30 years and during this time helped
grow the knowledge base of the local bird
populations. An unforgettable moment in 2000
was finding the first Heuglin’s Gull ever
recorded on South African soil. Previously this
Siberian gull had not been observed south of
Tanzania.
Currently she contributes to:
•
the Percy FitzPatrick Institute at the
University of Cape Town (Black Harrier
breeding in the local area)
•
the Animal Demography Unit (Co-ordinated
Waterbird Count on the Kleinemonde West
River)
Birds below are Heuglin’s Gull, lesser honeyguide, red-necked spurfowl & water thick-knees
